5 More Great Horse Stories from Horse Bloggers

Horses touch the hearts of the humans in their lives. Horse stories are shared widely among horse lovers and the internet has made sharing stories significantly easier and faster.

In this previous post, I highlighted some great bloggers that include photos in their posts. Below are a few stories by these and others bloggers that highlight the relationship between horse and rider.

Soul of a Horse

The Soul of a Horse blog includes a huge list of stories from horse owners about horses that are living “happier and healthier” because of the methods suggested by Joe Camp. He recommends a Wild Horse Model, free of the technology we have imposed on horses including shoes, stalls, and uncommon foods like refined sugar.

Colorado Horse Rescue

Stories of horses that have been rescued are often heartwarming and inspiring. The Colorado Horse Rescue includes rescue stories on their website which help inspire donations and volunteers as well as raise awareness that even horses that have been through terrible situations can be rehabilitated and lead full and happy lives.

There are also stories out there that try to help explain equine behavior in situations that are less than ideal. In the case of this story, a graphic video is shown of a horse that seems to intentionally kick its owner after she has fallen off. The story below it accurately describes what likely happened to cause the event, a panicked horse seeing a figure that it doesn’t realize is its rider, and lashing out in self-defense. Stories like these help to raise awareness of common horse behavior that is more our fault than theirs.

Cowgirl Diary

Cowgirl Diary posted a story that highlights cowgirls of the past including beautiful and some surprising photos. Real life cowgirls that rode before it was common for women to do so were brave and powerful riders in a time when it was a very male dominated world. Their courage inspired many of today’s horsewomen to follow their passion!

The Horse

For those more interested in current events, The Horse has a place just for compiled weird horse stories that include everything from police horse anecdotes to horses dressed in costumes to comments on horses in the media. It is updated periodically to include the newest weird horse news.

My latest project is 'Horses', a photography book of unique and interesting horse photographs taken throughout the world.
